The Brezza (previously known as the Vitara Brezza) helped Maruti make a name for itself in the SUV segment. It is one of the brand’s most in-demand offerings, and it is set to get a major update tomorrow. Here is what you should know before its launch.
Maruti Brezza Facelift: New Looks
The Brezza facelift has started reaching dealerships and has been fully revealed online. At the front, the upper grille gets minor tweaks, and the fog light setup has been revised. However, the headlights remain identical to the outgoing model. Many reports also suggest that it will get two new colour options – Beige and Orange. We also expect a new alloy wheel design on the facelift.
Powertrain
This is where things are a bit unclear. Most dealerships have confirmed that the Brezza will be offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. But one particular dealer has revealed that it would get an all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine. But one thing is confirmed: it will get a six-speed manual gearbox. The six-speed torque converter unit is also expected to be carried over.
The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (from the Fronx) seems like the most logical move for Maruti. It wouldn’t need to invest heavily in an all-new engine and could instead simply borrow the Fronx engine and boost its power figures. Moreover, the 1.5-litre engine could be used to utilise an underbody CNG setup, while the smaller turbo-engine would help the Brezza comply with the sub-4m tax rule.
Maruti Brezza Facelift: Features
Some of the expected additions in the facelift are blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle exit warning, a bigger 10.1-inch infotainment screen, wireless charger and ventilated front seats. Features like 360-degree camera, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, TPMS, six airbags, etc. will be carried over from the current model.
New Pricing
Currently, the Brezza is one of the more expensive SUVs in its segment, with prices starting from Rs. 9.62 lakh. With a new 1.0-litre engine, this pricing could see a significant cut of around Rs. 75,000. However, the addition of new features implies that the higher variants would be priced similarly. We expect the top ZXI+ variant to touch the Rs. 16 lakh mark.
