Ajay Devgn’s first collaboration with Aanand L Rai was expected to receive a thunderous response from the audience. After all, the superstar was returning to the action genre, his forte, following Dhamaal 4. However, the first teaser of the film, titled Chauhaan, landed in controversy. The Chauhan community, as well as the Kshatriya Parishad, raised objections to the content shown in the promo. Days after Chauhaan’s teaser went live, the makers had to replace Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub’s voice with another artiste. Weeks later, the actor has finally broken his silence on the teaser’s controversy.

On X, shared a statement, clarifying that he is not associated with Chauhaan. Without naming the film, the actor said he was asked ‘to dub a line without any reference a few months back’. Zeeshan and Aanand share a strong long-standing association. He is a regular in films directed by Rai.
In his statement, Zeeshan wrote, “I did that in good faith without asking for more as I knew the makers personally. As soon as the teaser was released and I saw the context in which it was ,I asked the filmmakers to remove my voice from the teaser as I have nothing to do with the film.”

He added that after his objection, the makers removed his voice from the teaser. “Though this will clarify my position as an artist who would never be a part of any such project, our entire attention should be on the present situation of the country where our young relentless students are on the streets putting up a brave fight. Kudos to their inspiring spirit. JAI HIND, JAI SAMVIDHAN,” he wrote.

Chauhaan’s title announcement video was unveiled on ’s father, Veeru Devgn’s birth anniversary on June 25. The dialogue, “Pathaanon ko keh do Chauhaan aa raha hai,” sparked a debate on the internet.

According to reports, the film is loosely inspired by a real incident that took place outside Jama Masjid. The Jammu and Kashmir cops were deployed outside the mosque on a busy Jummah (Friday). The crowd suddenly began pelting stones at the police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel. The stone-pelters were not aware that undercover police were tracking their activities. The makers haven’t clarified whether is based on a true story.
Chauhaan is directed by Neeraj Yadav and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai, and Himanshu Sharma under Jio Studios and Colour Yellow. The film is releasing on October 1, 2027.
