BTS Chile Concerts Green Lit After Promoter Revises Stage Plans – Here’s Why Government Approved

BTS will make its Chile debut as per schedule in October, after authorities approved new production plans for the group’s long-awaited concerts at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional. The decision follows weeks of uncertainty over the venue, with officials initially rejecting the proposed stage setup due to concerns it could damage the stadium’s playing surface. Technical changes submitted by concert promoter DG Medios have now cleared the shows to proceed as planned. BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook are currently on their full-fledged ARIRANG World Tour. The septet recently wrapped up its Paris leg.

The Chilean Ministry of Sports confirmed that the updated production plan presented by local promoter DG Medios was approved by the National Sports Institute (IND). The revised proposal includes several engineering changes designed to minimise the impact on Estadio Nacional’s football pitch and enable , large-scale 360-degree concert production to go ahead. Once the modifications were accepted, BTS will now perform at the stadium on October 14, 16 and 17.

The main worry about the first proposal was heavy construction equipment driving right over the stadium’s grass as the enormous circular stage was put in place. Here, the promoter made several technical adjustments to solve this problem.

Instead of cranes working on the playing surface, construction equipment will now work from the surrounding athletics track. In addition, a specialised protective floor will also be installed as part of the revised plan, including ventilation technology to help maintain the grass’ health throughout the concert setup.

Officials said the revised engineering study shows the modifications will greatly lower stress on the field and reduce the time to recover once the concerts are over.

The National Sports Institute had earlier denied permission for the concerts to be held at  , but the approval reverses that decision. Officials had said the original stage design posed unacceptable risks to the stadium’s sports infrastructure, especially the football pitch.

The decision left BTS fans feeling disappointed. Global ARMY held demonstrations asking authorities to reconsider, arguing that solutions could be found without moving the concerts.

After the approval, DG Medios released a statement thanking Chilean sports authorities and stadium officials for their collaborative work towards a solution. The promoter reaffirmed its commitment to deliver a world-class concert experience and to fully comply with all technical requirements instituted to protect Estadio Nacional. The company said fan safety and preservation of the venue remain equally important priorities throughout the production.

The Santiago concerts are part of the group’s ongoing ARIRANG World Tour, which started after the release of the group’s fifth studio album. The October shows will be BTS’ first performances in Chile since their 2017 Wings Tour, marking their long-awaited return after nearly eight years.

The Chile concerts also mark yet another milestone for BTS, as they are the first Korean act to headline standalone concerts at Estadio Nacional. Following the North American portion of the tour, BTS will make their way to Latin America with additional shows in Bogotá, Lima, Buenos Aires and São Paulo.
