Thousands of people were shocked when MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati, while trying to commit suicide, sprinkled petrol on himself in front of the Collectorate in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on Tuesday. The policemen present at the spot came into action and controlled the crowd while arresting Bhati. MLA Bhati arrived in a convoy of 500 vehicles
In fact, in Giral village of Shiv assembly area of Rajasthan, workers have been agitating against the government and administration for the last 40 days for their demands. To support this, MLA Ravind Singh Bhati had arrived with his supporters and a convoy of 500 vehicles. He was going to enter the Collectorate and talk to the Collector about the matter. But the policemen present at the spot stopped them. After this there was a situation of tension between the police and the protesters. Then MLA Bhati suddenly took out a bottle of petrol and sprinkled it on himself, due to which there was chaos on the spot.

Let us tell you that this entire matter is related to the Lignite Mines Company of Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML) in Giral. It is said that the company is doing coal mining by acquiring land in Thumbali and surrounding areas. The company had promised people that it would provide employment to local people. But now the youth are being thrown out of jobs. Hundreds of people are sitting on strike since April 9 regarding this issue. People’s demand is that 8 hours duty should be implemented and local people should be given priority for jobs. Salaries should be increased, workers sitting on strike should also get salary and bonus should also be given. The MLAs had arrived to support these demands.
