The husband and retired judge mother-in-law have been accused of dowry death over the suspicious death of a 33-year-old woman in Bhopal. Husband was seen giving CPR in CCTV. The mother-in-law got bail, the husband is absconding and a 6-member SIT has been formed to investigate.
Bhopal: A new twist has come in the case of suspicious death of a 33-year-old woman in her in-laws’ house in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Police have got two important CCTV footages. The woman was a resident of Noida and was found dead at her in-laws’ house in Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12. A case of dowry harassment, assault and murder has been registered against the woman’s husband and retired judge mother-in-law.
Now the new footage that has come to light is considered very important for the case. In the first CCTV footage, the woman is seen going up the stairs just before her death. Minutes later, other footage shows her unconscious and her husband trying to give her CPR twice. After this the husband brings her down with the help of two more people. Meanwhile, the woman’s mother-in-law, who is also a retired judge, comes into the CCTV frame and goes to another room. Bhopal Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to the mother-in-law, but rejected the husband’s application. At present the husband is absconding.
The woman’s family alleges that a few days before her death, she had told her mother that she was being harassed badly at her in-laws’ house and that she wanted to come back home. The woman had also alleged in the chats that her in-laws do not even let her cry and her husband doubts her. The family claims that due to the mental stress after marriage, the woman’s weight had reduced by 15 kg.
At the same time, the husband has claimed in his bail application that the woman had mental problems and was addicted to drugs. Now a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of 6 members has been formed to investigate this matter. In the postmortem report of Bhopal AIIMS, the cause of death has been stated to be hanging, but the girl’s family alleges that the injury marks on the body point towards murder. He has demanded re-postmortem in Delhi AIIMS. SIT has also said that action will be taken against the local officer who was negligent in the investigation.
