Meaning of the codes written on train tickets
CNF- Confirmed means the seat is completely confirmed.
RAC- Reservation Against Cancellation means half the seat has been received.
WL, GNWL- Waiting list means no seat has been found yet.
Will the train ticket be confirmed or not?
It completely depends on how many seats are vacant, how many people cancel, when the train chart is prepared and how far ahead your waiting number is. Usually, final confirmation is known only after the chart is prepared. Talking about the chances of getting a waiting ticket confirmed, if your ticket is between WL 1 to WL 20, then the chances are good. If WL is more than 20, the risk increases. If there is RAC then you get a seat in most of the cases.
