Sunrisers Hyderabad has made it to the playoffs of IPL 2026. Sunrisers defeated Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets at their home in a thrilling match. In the last match of this season at Chennai’s home ground Chepauk Stadium, CSK needed to win at any cost but it could not happen. SRH captain Pat Cummins played a big role in restricting Chennai to 180 runs. After this, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen took the team to the target on a difficult pitch. In this way Hyderabad reached the playoffs and with that Gujarat Titans also got the ticket for the next round. Despite the defeat, CSK still has some hopes left.
Cummins stopped CSK from scoring big
Unlike the high-scoring pitches that have been playing for some time now, this time the Chepauk stadium appeared in its old style. The same old style in which spinners and slow bowlers dominate and it is not easy for the batsmen to score runs. Chennai itself had to face problems due to this. While Sanju Samson (27 runs, 13 balls) gave a fast start, Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (15 runs, 21 balls) failed.
But in the middle, Karthik Sharma (32) once again played a short but fast innings and gave momentum to the team’s score. Dewald Brevis (44), who was proving to be a constant failure this season, finally took charge of the team in a difficult situation and played important innings and took the team to a strong score of 180 runs. Captain Pat Cummins took maximum 3 wickets for Hyderabad.
SRH wins with Kishan-Klasen partnership
At the same time, this pitch proved to be even more difficult for the explosive batting line-up of Sunrisers. Travis Head (6) was out in the second over itself but Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma (26) who came after him also struggled to score boundaries in the powerplay. The situation was such that the first six of the innings came in the sixth over. Then Abhishek was also out in the 8th over when only 56 runs were scored.
This is where Heinrich Klaasen entered and initially he too had to face problems. But once Clason’s bat started moving, he made a comeback for Sunrisers by counter-attacking. He along with Ishaan made a strong partnership of 75 runs. As soon as Clauson (47 runs, 26 balls) was out, Chennai appeared to be in a position to make a comeback but Ishan Kishan was frozen. Ishaan scored an excellent half-century and played an excellent inning of 70 runs (47 balls) to help the team win by 5 wickets.
