Fertility expert Dr. Ashita Jain tells that a woman came to her, who said emotionally, ‘Doctor… I am 21 years old. I have not had a single period till date. Now I am married… will I ever be able to become a mother? The expert says that after listening to the woman, she examined her medical history in detail and got the necessary tests done to find out the cause of her problem.

the woman’s uterus was present

The expert further says that during the examination, sonography revealed that the woman’s uterus was present. Therefore, initially the doctor thought that the problem might be due to some hormonal disturbance. But as further investigation took place, a reason emerged about which most people might have never even heard. This was the reason why the woman had not had even a single period.

The woman was suffering from Turner syndrome

Dr. Jain says that the investigation revealed that the woman was suffering from Turner Syndrome. It is a genetic condition in which an X chromosome present in the girl’s body is completely or partially absent. Because of this the ovaries do not develop normally. When the ovaries do not function properly, the body does not produce enough estrogen. As a result, periods do not start, eggs are not produced or are produced very less and this significantly reduces the chances of conceiving naturally.

However, it is important to keep in mind that every patient’s situation is different. Therefore, the method of treatment and the possibility of becoming a mother depends on the medical condition of the person.
