Maruti Suzuki announced that it has commenced production at the new Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The new facility joins the best-selling carmaker’s existing production manufacturing line (Gurugram and Manesar), and Gujarat (Hansalpur). It is the second plant in the Kharkhoda, Haryana, and has taken the total production capacity to 5 lakh units. Maruti Suzuki offers a range of hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and MPVs in the country, including the Alto K10, WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Fronx, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Invicto and Jimny. The new production line is expected to support the growing demand for the products and cement Maruti’s position as one of the strongest automotive manufacturer in the country.
Maruti Suzuki New Kharkhoda Plant
New Kharkhoda Plant To Boost Production Capacity
The annual production capacity of the new plant is 2.5 lakh units. As already operates a plant in that region, the new plant adds to the manufacturing strength and takes the overall capacity to 5 lakh vehicles per year. With this, the cumulative annual production capacity of the automaker across all its Indian facilities has increased to 26.5 lakh units.
The newly opened manufacturing plant is part of the brand’s previously announced strategy to add 5 lakh units of manufacturing capacity during FY2026-27. Once all planned phases become operational, the Kharkhoda facility alone is expected to emerge as one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler manufacturing hubs globally, with a projected annual production capacity of 10 lakh vehicles.
While Maruti Suzuki has always maintained its position as the country’s best-selling carmaker, the newly opened facility is expected to add to the brand appeal by boosting its global competitiveness, enhancing export volumes, reduce waiting periods and capitalising on the growing demand of SUVs. The foundation stone for the facility was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris
Brezza And Victoris SUVs To Be Manufactured Here
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the Kharkhoda plant currently manufactures the compact SUV Brezza along with the Victoris mid-size SUV. The Brezza, as evidenced by sales numbers, is one of the company’s highest-selling utility vehicles in India. The Victoris, on the other hand, is its flagship Arena SUV, which is the first Maruti to get an underbody CNG tank.
The company is likely to use the new production capacity to reduce waiting periods, improve supply chain and support exports in the future. With SUVs now contributing a significant share of passenger vehicle demand in India, the Kharkhoda facility is anticipated to become a key manufacturing base for the brand’s future products in India.
