New Delhi: The Bengaluru police have arrested 2 men from Doddaballapur Rural area for allegedly attacking a woman architect and her husband after a road rage incident. The incident happened on Friday.
According to the victim, identified as 29-year-old B Rachana, she was in her car on Hesaraghatta Main Road near Doddabelavangala, when a car was blocking her way. She honked to alert the driver ahead to give her way. She was driving back home after handing over lunch to her husband at their Hesaraghatta farmhouse.
Man came and clicked photo, attacked my husband when he intervened
According to Rachana, after repeated honking, a man came out of the car in front of her. He came near the window of the woman’s car and clicked her photo. Sensing danger the woman immediately called her husband who rushed to the spot.
Rachana was quoted by the Times of India as saying, “After clicking my photo, the man went back to his MUV and drove away. I immediately started my vehicle and started on my way home, but after 500 metres, the same car, once again blocked my way.”
According to Rachana, when she was blocked the second time round, 2 men from the MUV approached her and asked her to lower her car’s window. In her police complaint she said, “They threatened to break the window with a stone, if I did not comply.”
By the time, her husband arrived at the spot. He confronted the 2 men and asked them to delete his wife’s photo from their phone. In response the 2 men beat him up and tried to smash his head, with a stone, said Rachana. When the woman tried to intervene, she was also allegedly manhandled by the 2 men.
Rachana then called up 2 of her relatives who reached the spot, within minutes. The 3 men, (including her husband) confronted the attackers and then called the police.
Attackers arrested by police
The attackers fled in their MUV, after arguing for a little while with Rachana’s husband and her relatives. The police began investigations soon after the complaint was filed.
They managed to arrest the 2 attackers, within hours. They have been identified as M Mahesh, 25, and M Govinda Raju, 39. Both of them are farmers hailing from Dasenahalli village. They have now been remanded in judicial custody.
The police said that both of them were under the influence of alcohol. They misbehaved with Rachana, thinking that she was an outsider. Both of them have been booked under different sections of the law, said a police officer.
