New Delhi: Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Sunday travelled from Ajmer to Jaipur in a train. This was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve fuel and use public transport as far as possible. The gesture of the Deputy CM, was seen as support for PM Modi’s austerity measures. The PM had appealed to the people of the country to make use of public transport, amid the ongoing Middle East crisis.
The PM appealed to the people to conserve fuel, as supply to the country is disrupted due to the Israel-US vs Iran war. The fuel tankers are not able to cross the Strait of Hormuz, with the same ease with which they crossed earlier.
Conserving fuel a collective responsibility: Diya Kumari
Speaking to reporters at the Jaipur railway station, the Deputy CM said that conserving fuel was a collective responsibility. She pointed out the small lifestyle changes that one can make to make a significant difference.
She said, “I feel that this is a collective responsibility to address the current geopolitical situation. In a way, I view this as a global crisis, one that requires us to come together. If we collectively make an effort to conserve fuel, I believe it will make a significant difference.”

She then went on to remind people about PM Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to the nation. She said that even the PM had asked people to conserve fuel and use carpooling, bicycles, walk and take public transport as much as possible. She said that as a public representative her responsibility was even greater and urged people to participate in this initiative to the best of their ability.
She further said that PM Modi had not asked people to follow this fuel conservation measure as a “strict requirement” but had just offered it as a “suggestion.” She added that the measures suggested by the PM are inherently beneficial in every way, be it for the health of the person, the environment and in other ways as well.
She added that if people adapt this and make these small steps a part of their daily lives then it would be a “remarkable step forward.” She encouraged sustainable living habits and said that adapting the steps would be beneficial for both the environment and the people’s own health.
