The deadlock within the House deepened when senior Congress leader KC Venugopal and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge put a condition before the government, which has currently closed all avenues of discussion. At the center of this entire political storm is the examination system on which the future of 20 lakh students of the country depends. The allegations of paper leak after the NEET-UG examination held on 3 May 2026 have now been converted into the files of CBI. The CBI investigation has revealed shockingly that some subject experts associated with the National Testing Agency (NTA), like chemistry expert P.V. Kulkarni and biology expert Manisha Mandhare had provided questions and answers to some selected students in Pune before the examination in exchange for a huge amount. So far 13 people have been arrested in the case. The opposition alleges that after such a huge failure, the Education Minister has no moral right to continue in the post, while the government argues that due to prompt action and ongoing investigation, no question of resignation arises.

According to the government, the Education Ministry handed over the case to CBI after receiving complaints of paper leak after the NEET-UG 2026 exam. The investigating agency has registered an FIR and arrested many people. The investigation has revealed allegations of leaking question papers and sending possible questions to students. Several electronic devices, bank records and other documents have also been seized. The opposition alleges that there were serious lapses in maintaining the confidentiality of the examination system, which affected the future of lakhs of students.
