New Delhi: Fans were eagerly waiting for Drake’s upcoming album, Iceman, but the rapper surprised everyone by dropping not one, but three albums featuring a total of 43 songs. Alongside his much-anticipated solo album, he also released two bonus albums titled Habibti and Maid of Honour. For the newly released albums, he collaborated with artists including 21 Savage, Central Cee, and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Drake’s album drop sparks playback issues
After Drake dropped his three albums, major music streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music, experienced temporary disruptions, leading to several user complaints. Many users complained of accessing the apps or play music on them. It was speculated that as fans rushed to listen to Drake’s new albums, the music streaming platforms suffered a technical glitch due to the high demand.
More than 5,000 users reported issues with Spotify at the peak of the outage, while 500 people complained about Apple Music’s functionality, according to Downdetector. However, the outage was for a temporary period of time.
About the albums
Drake’s three new albums are a mixture of musical style. While Iceman is more rap and hip-hop focused, Habibti is R&B and Maid of Honour is dance music-inspired. With the new album releases, Drake once again takes a dig at his rivals. In one track, he raps, “Handin’ out turkeys on camera inside of your hood, then you go back to the hills.” In Iceman album opener, he raps, “Tell us how it felt to meet the grim reaper / This album better have some big features / Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m all alone for my mental [health].”
