IPL Points Table 2026 Updated After PBKS vs MI: Punjab Kings stayed in fourth position in the IPL 2026 standings after suffering a 6-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on May 14.
Batting first, PBKS posted 200/8 in 20 overs. Prabhsimran and Priyansh Arya stitched a 50-run partnership for the first wicket. Deepak Chahar removed Priyansh for 22 runs in the last over of the powerplay, but Prabhsimran continued to play attacking shots from the other end as PBKS reached 55/1 after the first six overs.
Prabhsimran completed his fifty in 30 balls with a single. However, the momentum shifted after Shardul took two wickets in the 12th over. He removed Prabhsimran for 57 runs and then dismissed the captain, Shreyas Iyer, cheaply. Raj Bawa removed Cooper Connolly for 21 runs with a cross-seam delivery, and then took a brilliant catch at short midwicket to dismiss Suryansh Shedge off Shardul.
Shashank Singh was removed by Corbin Bosch in the 15th over, while Marco Jansen also failed to contribute with the bat, with Shardul taking another wicket in the 17th over. PBKS, however, finished strongly by hitting 53 runs in the last three overs.
Azmatullah Omarzai smashed a 17-ball 38 with the help of two maximums and a boundary, while Vishnu Vinod and Xavier Bartlett also scored crucial late runs as PBKS set a 201-run target for MI.
In reply, MI got off to a great start as Ryan Rickelton forged a 61-run partnership for the opening wicket. The visitors were in control of the chase, but PBKS made a comeback in the game as Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Rickelton for 48 runs in the seventh over.
Naman Dhir also failed to score big runs, while Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Rohit for 25 in the 10th over as MI slipped from 61/0 to 88/3. After three quick setbacks, Tilak forged a crucial 61-run partnership with Sherfane Rutherford. Omarzai bowled well in the 17th over, giving away only 2 runs and also picking up a wicket.
The visitors needed 50 runs off the last three overs, and Marco Jansen conceded 22 in the 18th over. Arshdeep executed his plans brilliantly and gave away just 13 runs. But Xavier Bartlett failed to defend 15 runs in the last over as Tilak hit three maximums to help MI register a victory in the hill city.
