Vaibhav Sooryavanshi included in India A squad for Sri Lanka tri-series

New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been included in a 15-member India A squad for the one-day tri-series, which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka in June 2026. Tilak Varma will lead the side, and Riyan Parag is named as the vice-captain. Apart from India, the ‘A’ teams for Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will also participate in the tri-series.

The call-up to the India A team for the 15-year-old young batter follows after a sensational season with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025. Sooryavanshi slammed a 35-ball hundred against the Gujarat Titans (GT) to announce himself at the big stage. He was then part of India’s U19 World Cup-winning squad earlier this year.

He played a crucial role in the final of the tournament, smashing a brilliant 175 runs against England U19. He then continued his outstanding form in the ongoing IPL 2026, scoring 440 runs from 11 innings at a strike rate of 236.56, so far.

The 15-member squad also features Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Ayush Badoni and Yash Thakur. Kumar Kushagara, Harsh Dubey and Nishant Sindhu are also included in the team.

The tri-series will start with Sri Lanka taking on India A on June 9. The series features a round-robin tournament, and the top two teams will face off in the final on June 21. India A will also play two multi-day games against Sri Lanka A, and the squad for the red-ball matches will be announced at a later stage. The white-ball series will take place in Dambulla, while the red-ball matches will be played in Galle.
