The legal age of marriage is 18, but for most people this is a time when they are beginning to stand on their own feet. Many do not even vote till this age. Overall, 25 is not the age when one should be pressured to ‘get married’ by saying that it will be too late.
But in India, especially for girls, this is a very common problem which they have to face from their family and relatives. Recently a girl posted a video of a similar situation on social media. In the video, she secretly recorded her family members and her mother, who were insisting on her to get married soon as she was getting older. In the video, relatives are heard saying various sexist things, like calling her ‘old age’ a problem for pregnancy and saying that soon her ‘glow will go away’.
