Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seven recent appeals to deal with the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
He termed it a failure and said that it is no longer in the power of the Prime Minister to run the country. In a post on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote that on Sunday Modi ji asked for sacrifice from the public. Don’t buy gold, don’t go abroad, use less petrol, reduce the use of fertilizers and cooking oil, travel by metro, work from home. This is not a sermon, this is a failure. In 12 years, the country has reached such a stage that the public has to be told what to buy and what not. Where to go, where not. In fact, in a public meeting in Secunderabad on Sunday, PM Modi had stressed the need to reduce dependence on imports, so that foreign exchange can be saved and the environment can be protected. The Prime Minister had said that in today’s time the use of petrol, gas and diesel will have to be reduced. Due to the impact of the ongoing war in the neighbourhood, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased manifold across the world.
The impact of this global crisis is more on India, we do not have big oil wells. To save petrol, gas and diesel, we need measures like work from home. Reduce unnecessary vehicle usage. Ride the Metro and carpool. Take as many people as possible in it. If every family reduces the use of edible oil a little, it will save foreign exchange and people’s health will also improve. The country should aim to halve the consumption of chemical fertilizers and rapidly move towards natural farming. It would be in the national interest to postpone foreign travel for some time due to weddings, holidays and other reasons. Apart from this, a large amount of foreign exchange is spent in importing gold. In the national interest, people should avoid buying and donating gold for one year.
Opposition said, there is only one crisis in the country ‘BJP’
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the BJP government has failed to handle both the economy and foreign policy. As soon as the elections were over, the government suddenly remembered the ‘crisis’. Actually there is only one crisis for the country and its name is BJP. AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that the PM was saying that the government was bearing your burden for the last two months. Now that the elections are over, your usefulness is also over. Took your burden till the elections were going on in five states. Now they are telling people to use less oil, petrol and gas and not to buy gold. Didn’t he remember all this during the elections? Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the economic situation is more serious than the official figures and the claims being made so far by the Prime Minister and his associates.
