VCK Deputy CM Demand: Before the formation of government in Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s TVK party seems to be in trouble. VCK has demanded the post of Deputy CM and big ministries in return for support. Congress has also increased the political stir by sending its MLAs to Hyderabad.
The politics of Tamil Nadu is currently at a very interesting juncture. After a stellar performance in the assembly elections, actor Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has come very close to power, but the conditions of allies before government formation have made the political equations more complicated. In particular, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has made such demands in return for support, which have created new suspense in the politics of the state.
According to sources, VCK has demanded the post of Deputy Chief Minister and many important ministries as part of its stake in the government. It is believed that only after agreeing on these conditions, the party will take the final decision on supporting Vijay’s TVK government.

VCK adamant on Deputy CM post
Political sources say that VCK wants party chief Thol Thirumavalavan to be made the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, the party also wants important responsibilities in the cabinet for its newly elected MLAs. This issue was discussed in detail in the important meeting of the party held through digital medium on Friday evening. It was also decided in the meeting that only party chief Thirumavalavan would take the final decision regarding support.
Keep an eye on Vijay’s seat also
Amidst the discussions about government formation, political turmoil regarding seats has also intensified. According to sources, if Vijay leaves Tiruchirappalli East assembly seat, VCK wants Thol Thirumavalavan to contest from there. It is being told that Vijay can retain the Perambur seat of Chennai. In such a situation, the balance of seats among the allies is also becoming a big challenge for government formation.
A big decision may be taken this evening
VCK spokesperson K.K. Pavlan has indicated that the party chief may make a final announcement on supporting TVK or not at 4 pm today. He was given full powers in this regard in the high level meeting held on Friday. Political analysts believe that this decision can decide the direction of the new government of Tamil Nadu.
The issue of Dalit reservation and commissions is also important
According to sources, not only power sharing but also social and constitutional issues were discussed in the meeting. The VCK has also raised issues such as continuation of the commissions of inquiry into caste killings set up by the previous government and ensuring reservation in promotions for Dalits in government jobs. The party wants to include these issues in its terms of support, so as to take forward its agenda of social justice.
Congress sent MLAs to Hyderabad
Congress also seems cautious amid the ongoing political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu. According to party sources, Congress has sent five of its MLAs to Hyderabad to protect them from possible political manipulation. This move is being seen as a sign of increasing political turmoil and strategic caution before government formation.
TVK is just 10 seats away from majority
Vijay’s TVK had won 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections held on April 23. However, the party still needs 10 seats to reach the majority mark. For this reason, TVK is constantly trying to garner support from parties like Congress, CPI, CPM and VCK. But the increasing demands of allies have not made Vijay’s path to power easy. In the politics of Tamil Nadu, now everyone’s eyes are on whether Vijay will form the government by accepting the conditions of the allies or the political equations in the state will be seen changing once again.
