Will Thalapathy Vijay go to Supreme Court? TVK’s ‘Plan-B’ ready, will Tamil Nadu repeat the Maharashtra scene of 2019? Tamil Nadu Politics Thalapathi Vijay Tvk Supreme Court Move Plan After Governor Deadlock Explained

Why is the Governor not inviting Vijay to form the government?

Article 164(1) of the Constitution gives the Governor the power to appoint the Chief Minister, but the rule also says that if no one gets a clear majority, it is up to the Governor’s discretion as to whom he appoints. The Governor of Tamil Nadu wants a permanent government to be formed, hence he is asking Vijay for the list of complete 118 MLAs. On the other hand, Vijay’s supporters and some opposition parties are calling it a ploy by BJP to keep Vijay away from power. In the ‘SR Bommai Case’ of 1994, the Supreme Court had clearly said that the majority decision should not be taken in the Raj Bhavan, but in the Legislative Assembly.
