The counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections is scheduled for May 4. Ahead of this crucial event, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held several important meetings with senior DMK leaders and coalition partners on Saturday to review the political situation and finalize preparations.
Immediately after returning from a four-day trip to Kodaikanal, Stalin conducted a series of meetings with the party’s top officials. During these discussions, he received detailed feedback on the ground realities in various regions, voter turnout, and post-election assessments.
Following this, the Chief Minister met with leaders of coalition parties at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam. Notable attendees included K. Selva Perunthagai, president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, and E.R. Eshwaran from the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK).
Sources indicate that the meeting focused on the overall performance of the coalition and expectations ahead of the vote counting. Stalin also reviewed the preparations of the candidates and local units from the allied parties.
He emphasized the need for vigilance at counting centers and the importance of maintaining better coordination among candidates, agents, and party leadership to ensure a smooth process.
Senior DMK leaders A. Raja, R.S. Bharti, T.K.S. Elangovan, and T.R.B. Raja were also present at the meeting.
In this election, the DMK is contesting 164 out of 234 seats in the assembly, while its major ally, the Congress, is fielding candidates in 28 seats. Other parties from the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance are contesting the remaining seats.
Voting took place in a single phase on April 23, with good turnout reported across districts. In the lead-up to the counting, all political parties have intensified their internal reviews and logistical preparations.
DMK leaders express confidence in their coalition’s victory, though they acknowledge that the final decision rests with the electorate, which will be revealed on May 4.
