Big decision in NITI Aayog
An important decision of the Prime Minister has added a new and historic chapter to the country’s highest policy-making body, NITI Aayog. The government has appointed two new full-time members in NITI Aayog. Dr. R. holds these important posts. Balasubramaniam and Dr. Joram Aniya have been entrusted with the responsibility. In this appointment, the name of Dr. Joram Aniya is especially attracting attention.
Dr. Joram Aniya’s reaching NITI Aayog is a big record in many ways. She is the first woman from the Nishi community to obtain a PhD degree. What is more, she is the first woman to do PhD in Hindi language in Arunachal Pradesh. This fact in itself shows his deep passion and dedication towards education. Coming from a state which is known for its unique cultural heritage, and assuming the post of a full-time member of NITI Aayog, is a proud moment for the entire North-East India.
18 years of ground experience will now shape policies
Policies cannot be made only in files and closed rooms. To make them effective, it is very important to understand the ground reality. Dr. Aniya has over 18 years of solid experience working in the fields of education, research and public policy. She has been an accomplished educationist and associate professor. Along with this, as a member of Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Regulatory Commission, she has played an important administrative and reformative role in the education system of the state. His long and on-the-ground experience will now be useful in formulating policies for the entire country. His deep understanding of the field of education and research can give a new and practical direction to the vision of NITI Aayog.
Who is BVR Subramaniam?
BVR Subramaniam has now become the new CEO of NITI Aayog. He has replaced Parameswaran Iyer, who has been made the Executive Director of the World Bank. Subramaniam has previously been an IAS officer and was also the chairman of ITPO. Now he will remain on this post for two years.
Subramaniam is a 1987 batch IAS officer and comes from Andhra Pradesh. He is an engineer and studied at London Business School. Between 2004-06, he had also been the personal secretary of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In 2018, he was made the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.
