He told that an important part of ‘Ramayana’ will be shown in the film, which will be of about 20 minutes. This film starring big stars like Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran is already in the news through its looks and glimpses and now this new update has further increased the curiosity of the fans.
Big reveal in Comic Con: ‘Varanasi’ will have a special part related to ‘Ramayana’
S. S. Karthikeya said during a conversation at the Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, “We have seen many similarities in the stories of India and Mexico. Just as the stories there come out of the Aztec and Mayan civilization, similarly in India we take inspiration from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. ‘Varanasi’ has about 20 minutes of the Ramayana, so this story will be able to connect with the audience across the world.” After his statement, it has become clear that the film will not only be a visual spectacle but will also be full of cultural depth.
India-Mexico connection, an attempt to connect with the audience
Regarding the response received in Mexico, Karthikeya said, “After coming to Mexico City, I felt as if I was in my own country. The people here, their food and spices – everything is very relatable. The importance of family that the people here believe in, the same feeling will be seen in our film ‘Varanasi’ as well.” He also added that family values and emotional connections will play an important role in the story of the film, which will easily connect with the international audience.
Buzz increased due to looks of star cast, release date also locked
In the film, Mahesh Babu will be seen in the role of ‘Rudra’, Prithviraj Sukumaran in the role of ‘Kumbha’ and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the role of ‘Mandakini’. Their first look has already become popular on social media. The initial glimpses of the film were shown at Le Grand Rex, where it received tremendous applause and response. This film, being made with a budget of approximately Rs 1400 crore, will be released in theaters on a large scale on 7 April 2027.
