Madhya Pradesh Assembly has passed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill. After the approval of the President, new rules related to marriage, succession and women’s rights will come into force in the state.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, taking a big step towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which he had resolved to implement, got the UCC Bill passed by the Assembly on July 21. This day is being seen as an important achievement in the history of the state.
After the bill was passed by the Assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Nitin Nabin, his government is continuously taking forward the resolve of equality, social justice and public welfare. Now this bill will be sent for the approval of the President. After getting the approval of the President, it will be implemented in the entire Madhya Pradesh as a law.

What will be the major changes after the implementation of UCC?
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that after the implementation of the law, equal legal system will be applicable for all citizens in the state. With this, uniform rules will be applied in matters related to marriage, inheritance, adoption and family rights. He said that more than one marriage would fall under the category of crime. Apart from this, systems like Triple Talaq, Halala will have no place. Besides, the law will also make clear provisions on misuse of live-in relationships and property related disputes.
Women will get equal rights, polygamy will be banned
Talking to the media in the Assembly complex after the passing of the UCC Bill, the Chief Minister said that after the President’s approval, Madhya Pradesh will join the category of states where more than one marriage will be considered a legal offence. He said that women face the most problems due to polygamy. The new law will prove to be an important step towards providing justice to women.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to providing their rights to half the population of the state i.e. women. Women will have equal rights as men in matters of marriage as well as inheritance. All legal rights related to life, including adoption, will apply equally.
Strict action will be taken against misuse of live-in relationship
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that if a person misuses the provisions of live-in relationship or violates the prescribed age limit (18 and 21 years) or misuses it for extramarital relations, then in such cases there will be a provision of jail up to five years. He said that his government is working on the basis of moral values and is committed to bringing positive changes in the society.
UCC said to be part of series of reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many important reforms are being implemented across the country. In the same sequence, Madhya Pradesh has taken a big step towards implementing Uniform Civil Code. He said that this law will give a new identity to the state and will further strengthen the equality based system. He also congratulated the entire state for this achievement.
Targeted Congress, said- equal law is necessary for all citizens
Taking aim at the Congress, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the party has always been trying to divide the society on the basis of religion. He questioned that if both Ram and Rahim are citizens of India then why should there be different laws for them. He said, “We all are sons of Mother India, then the question of discrimination does not arise.”
The Chief Minister alleged that the policies of the Congress had created division in the society for years. He said that the objective of the Madhya Pradesh government is to implement equal laws for all citizens and not to maintain separate systems. He also said that the state government, after reviewing some of the decisions taken earlier, has decided to implement the Uniform Civil Code, so that all citizens can get equal rights and justice.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav informed about the historic decision on social media
After the UCC Bill was passed in the Assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav described it on social media as a golden chapter in the history of Madhya Pradesh. He wrote that the Madhya Pradesh Assembly has passed the ‘Madhya Pradesh Uniform Civil Code, 2026’ bill by voice vote. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leadership, the government is continuously working towards equality, social justice and public welfare. The Chief Minister said that this law will give new strength to the empowerment of women and will further strengthen the government’s commitment towards equal justice, equal rights and the values of the Constitution.
