The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, when the compound wall of Bowering and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru collapsed due to heavy rain. At that time, Lata and Smita, residents of Ernakulam, Kerala, who had come there for shopping, were also present. She, along with a few other people, stood under a tarpaulin nearby to protect themselves from the rain. Then suddenly the wall fell on them and both of them died.

Along with the wall, the soil has also sunk on the road, due to which the soil from the ground level of the hospital has also come on the road. Fire brigade personnel and other people are seen trying to remove the debris on the spot. It is clear from the video that this was after the rescue operation, because by then people had been evacuated from there.

Total 8 people died
A total of eight people lost their lives in heavy rains in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Of these, seven people died when a wall collapsed at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, while one more died in another accident at Vega City Mall. Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar told the media after visiting the spot that those who died in the wall collapse were five roadside shopkeepers and two women from Kerala. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the accident. There were also reports that three children were among the dead.
Tourist group had come to visit
Lata and Smita, who died, were part of a tourist group of 53 people who had come to Bengaluru from Ramamangalam in Ernakulam. After reaching Bengaluru in the morning, the group divided separately for shopping after seeing the special places of the city. Lata, Smita, Maya, Preeti and Siji, these five people were shopping in Shivaji Nagar. When it suddenly started raining heavily, they went under a tarpaulin installed nearby, where some street vendors were already present. Then the old wall there suddenly fell on the people. Maya and Preeti also suffered serious injuries in this accident, while Siji suffered spinal cord injury. Maya and Preeti will return home today due to head injury, but Siji will return only after treatment as her injury is serious.
