A matchmaking platform has revealed the marriage conditions of an IPS officer’s daughter. A 32-year-old woman needs either an ‘upper caste’ groom or someone who earns Rs 80 lakh annually. This demand has sparked a debate on social media about caste and money.

Ondrila Kapoor, CEO of a matchmaking platform, recently made headlines after she revealed the strange demands of a divorced man. That post of his went viral on social media. Now he has revealed the unique conditions of another girl, which has sparked a new debate. Boys and girls have their own preferences and expectations regarding marriage. But here the standards set by the daughter of an IPS officer for her future groom have become a topic of discussion. This has been disclosed by Ondrila Kapoor, CEO of matchmaking platform ‘Date Crewe’ in one of her social media posts.

So what were the girl’s demands?

The condition of the girl was that her future husband should either be of ‘upper caste’ or his annual income should be Rs 80 lakh. She was ready to marry outside her caste, but only if the boy belonged to a higher caste or his salary was Rs 80 lakh.

Ondrila Kapoor has shared this matter on her LinkedIn profile, after which this matter has become heated. The surprising thing is that the girl making such demands comes from an educated family. His father is an IPS officer and mother a teacher. Despite such a good educational background, her conditions regarding the boy seem backward thinking to many people. The girl clearly said that she is ready to marry only boys from ‘upper castes’ like Brahmin or Rajput. If the boy does not belong to these castes, then his salary should be 80 lakhs.

Ondrila told that this demand has been put forward by a 32 year old woman, who runs her own fashion company. He wrote, “On paper, she comes from an educated family. Father IPS, mother teacher, yet she has put such conditions before us. She wants to marry only among Brahmins, Rajputs and some select upper castes.”

The girl believed that either caste should be strong or money should be there. As soon as this matter came up on social media, it became a matter of debate and people are giving different types of reactions on it. One user wrote, “Marriage in India has become just a transaction of money.” Another said that this is common in arranged marriages in India. Another user commented, “Marriage for love is a western concept. In India it is different, here there is matching of economic and social status between two families.” However, some people raised questions on Ondrila and said that she was making such stories to promote her site.
