Three shops were gutted in a fire late night in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka. The cause of the fire is said to be short circuit. At the same time, a massive fire broke out in a paper packaging factory in Shivamogga causing loss worth crores.
Chikkaballapur (Karnataka) [भारत]July 21 (ANI): Three shops were completely gutted in a late night fire at Kencharlahalli village in Chintamani taluk of Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district, police said. The fire, which is believed to be caused by a short circuit, engulfed a mobile shop, an electronics shop and a tea stall owned by Shirish, Sasikumar and Suresh. Goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes, causing huge financial loss to the shop owners.
Fire and emergency services personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby shops. Local police visited the spot and are investigating the incident.
There was also a fire in the paper factory in Shivamogga.
Earlier, on Wednesday, a massive fire broke out in a paper packaging factory in Old Mandali Industrial Area of Shivamogga city, in which packaging material worth crores of rupees was destroyed. More than 25 personnel of fire and emergency services were deployed on the spot, and fire fighting operations were carried out for more than an hour to bring the fire under control.
Owned by Mumbai businessman Zakir Hajibhai, the factory was in operation for almost 40 years. A large quantity of paper packaging material kept in the premises was destroyed in the fire. More than 400 employees worked in the factory. There is no news of any casualty. (ANI)
