Steve Smith Furious, Smashes Bat After Controversial Dismissal in PSL Eliminator: Watch

Multan Sultans’ Steve Smith lost his cool and threw the bat in anger after being dismissed in the Eliminator against the Hyderabad Kings.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Steve Smith was in full angry mode and was seen banging his bat in frustration in the dressing room. Steve Smith was dismissed for a mere 13 runs by Mohammad Ali. Many theories are circulating on social media about what left the former Australian captain fuming. Smith was caught by Maaz Sadaqat, and the youngster celebrated aggressively, with many claiming that it might have left Smith upset.

On the other hand, others suggested that Sadaqat’s catch wasn’t clean and the ball touched the ground, leaving Smith fuming. Many also suggested that the Australians are very serious about the game and want to do well in every opportunity, and when Smith failed in a must-win game, he was upset with himself.

Smith was dropped early by Sadaqat in the third over, but Smith failed to make the opportunity count and perished in the same over, miscuing the pull shot.

The defeat left the Sultans’ captain, Ashton Turner, disappointed, who said that the team played their worst cricket when it mattered the most. “We lost a little bit of momentum over the last couple of games, and we’ve unfortunately ended our campaign with some of our worst cricket,” Turner said after the match.

Hyderabad Kings To Play Islamabad United

Meanwhile, the Kings will play Islamabad United in Qualifier 2, and the winner of the match will face Peshawar Zalmi for the title. The team lost the first four games and was on the verge of an early exit before they pulled off back-to-back wins and qualified for the playoffs. Kings’ captain Marnus Labuschagne was delighted with the win and lauded the team for a remarkable turnaround. “It’s really hard to put into words what it means for the franchise; it is really special,” captain Labuschagne said after the match.

“I am so proud of the guys from where we were – not winning a game over the first four games and then finding our feet in the back half of the tournament.”
