Train stuck from Hauz Khas towards Botanical Garden

According to passengers, the metro going from Hauz Khas towards Botanical Garden remained halted for more than half an hour. Some passengers said that the speed of the train had become very slow and the metro could cover the distance of only two stations in about 30 minutes. During this period, the crowd increased both on the platform and in the coach, due to which the passengers had to face suffocation and inconvenience.

Problems increased due to automatic barrier not opening

According to DMRC, the metro gates were opening at the station, but the automatic barriers installed in front of the gate were causing technical hindrance in opening. Because of this, passengers were neither able to get down nor board the metro easily. This was the reason that the crowd of passengers at the station increased rapidly and the pressure on the system increased.

‘Delay’ shown on screen board

Messages like “Delay” and “Station Hold” appeared on electronic screen boards installed at many stations. Along with this, this message was also flashing for the passengers “There will be a slight delay in this travel service. Sorry for this inconvenience.” However, passengers said the “short delay” actually turned into a very long wait.

Passengers’ anger erupted on social media

Many passengers expressed their displeasure by sharing pictures and videos on social media platform X. Some people posted pictures of the crowded platform, while others complained of being stuck inside the train. This delay became a major problem for office-going commuters, students and daily commuters. Many people raised questions about how robust the backup system is to avoid such technical glitches during peak hours.

Service normal on remaining lines

DMRC clarified that train services continued to operate normally on Yellow, Blue, Red, Pink, Violet and all other lines. The problem was limited only to the Kalkaji Temple to Botanical Garden section of the Magenta Line. The technical team reached the spot and was busy fixing the problem.
