VVS Laxman made his coaching debut with the Indian team in the year 2022 in the T20 series played against Ireland. India had won that 2nd T20 series by 2-0.
After this, in the Asia Cup played in T20 format in 2022, India also played 5 matches under the coaching of VVS Laxman, out of which they won 3 and lost 2.
After that, under the coaching of Laxman, Team India played T20 matches in the Asian Games held in China in 2023. Under the coaching of VVS Laxman, India won the gold medal in the 2023 Asian Games played in T20 format.

Team India also did the Zimbabwe tour of 2024 under the coaching of VVS Laxman. India had won 4-1 in the 5 T20 series played on that tour.
