Big decision of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.
Taking an important step towards further strengthening the pediatric health services in Delhi, the Delhi government has taken a big decision. The government has decided to start FNB (Fellowship of National Board) program in Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine) at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTBH) with 2 seats per year.
Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said that it is the priority of the Delhi government to further strengthen pediatric emergency care. This step will increase specialist training capacity and ensure timely and better treatment of children in critical conditions. In fact, about 30,000 to 35,000 pediatric emergency patients are treated every year in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, in view of which the need for super-specialty training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine was felt. The launch of this program will improve the quality of treatment and will also help in emergency treatment of children below five years of age.
Know how the FNB program operates
According to the Delhi Government, this FNB (Fellowship of National Board) program conducted under the National Board of Examinations (NBE) is a two-year post-MD super-specialty course and is equivalent to Senior Residency. The trainees will be accommodated against the existing vacant senior resident posts, which will ensure effective utilization of available resources and will not impose any additional financial burden on the government.
Health services will be strengthened
This decision reflects the commitment of the Delhi government towards further strengthening health services and expanding advanced medical education. Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government is continuously striving to build a strong, sensitive and future-ready health system for all the citizens of Delhi.
