New Delhi: Rohit Sharma has missed the last three matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to an injury. Now with Mumbai facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede stadium on Thursday, the speculations regarding his participation are rife.

With Mumbai again suffering in the cash-rich league with just two wins in seven matches, a Rohit Sharma boost is what the five-time winners really need to uplift their campaign from here. While taking a step ahead into the playoffs is very difficult for the side but they still have hopes if they pull up their socks from here.

MI provides official update

As per the latest update from a MI spokesperson, a final call regarding Rohit’s fitness is set to be taken on Thursday ahead of the match. Though he is progressing well but his availability for the big clash against Sunrisers will be taken before the toss, confirmed the spokesperson.

The star batter played his last game this season against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Since then, he has not been a part of the mix because of the injury which sidelined him from the last three clashes.

The biggest challenge for the five-time winners has been that they have been unable to perform well despite the presence of several big names in the playing XI. If Rohit joins the team at this crucial juncture, it will be a massive boost for the franchise which is placed on the second-last spot in the table.

In the ongoing edition, Rohit has played a total of four matches for Mumbai scoring 137 runs. With one half-century to his name, he highest score of 78 reflects at his fine form in the ongoing T20 event. It remains to be seen that will he be able to participate in Thursday’s match or not.
