Breaking News Live Updates, April 29, 2026: Voting in the second phase of the West Bengal elections 2026 will happen today. More than 1,448 candidates, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, are contesting across 142 constituencies. Voting will take place at 41,001 polling stations spread across eight districts.
The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government is aiming for a fourth consecutive term in West Bengal. The Chief Minister faces a tough contest against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in the Bhabanipur constituency, while Adhikari is also in the fray from Nandigram.
The BJP, which secured 77 seats in the 2021 elections, is looking to improve its performance and gain a stronger mandate this time.
