OBC Scholarship UP: In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi government has given financial assistance to more than 36 lakh OBC students in the year 2025-26 under the Pre-10th and Post-10th Scholarship Scheme. An example of inclusive development has been set by including the transgender community.
Education is the strongest foundation of any society, but economic weakness often becomes the biggest obstacle in the way of thousands of talents. Keeping this challenge in mind, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has prepared a big support for lakhs of backward class (OBC) students. In the year 2025-26, financial assistance has been provided to more than 36 lakh OBC students under the pre-10th and post-10th scholarship schemes. The special thing is that the transgender community has also been included in this scheme along with girl students and students, which shows the inclusive thinking of the government. The objective of the government is clear, no eligible student should be deprived of education just because of financial constraints.
36,75,294 students got direct benefits
According to the Backward Classes Welfare Department, a total of 36,75,294 students have been given the benefit of scholarship in the year 2025-26. Students whose parents’ annual income is Rs 2 lakh or less are considered eligible under this scheme. This figure is not only being considered as the success of the government scheme, but also a big step towards linking education with social justice.

Purva Dasham Scholarship: Help to lakhs of students of class 9-10
A total of Rs 219.64 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 8,88,863 students of classes 9 and 10 under the Purva Dasham Scholarship Scheme. Among these beneficiaries-
- 4,58,585 girl students
- 4,30,275 students
- 3 transgender
Are included. Under this scheme, a total assistance of up to Rs 2250, including Rs 150 per month (maximum 10 months) and Rs 750 annual grant, is given directly to the bank account of the students.
Higher education got a big boost from the post-secondary scheme
Post tenth scholarship scheme covers intermediate to higher education and professional courses. This includes professional courses like B.Tech, MBBS, MBA along with courses like BA, B.Sc, B.Com, ITI and Polytechnic. This has made the path to higher education easier than before for poor and middle class students.
More than 27 lakh students got scholarship
Under the Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme, an assistance of Rs 2882.02 crore has been provided to a total of 27,86,431 students of class 11-12 and higher education. In class 11-12-
- 4,72,764 girl students
- 3,80,667 students
- 2 transgender
Was given scholarship. Whereas in higher education-

- 9,31,906 students
- 8 transgender
Got the benefit of the scheme. This makes it clear that the scholarship scheme is no longer just an aid but is becoming a vehicle for social change on a large scale.
Scholarship is decided according to course group
The government has fixed different scholarship amounts for different courses.
Group-1
Professional courses like B.Tech, MBA and MBBS are included.
- Day Scholar: Rs 56,600
- Hosteller: Rs 64,400 annually
Group-2
Courses like MSc, MA, BBA, PG Diploma
- Day Scholar: Rs 36,360
- Hosteller: Rs 39,840
Group-3
BA, BSc, BCom
- Day Scholar: Rs 23,600
- Hosteller: Rs 26,840 annually
Polytechnic and ITI students also get big benefits
Group-4 includes Intermediate, ITI and Polytechnic courses.
- ITI/Polytechnic Day Scholar: Rs 12,760
- Hosteller: Rs 14,560 annually
For class 11-
- Day Scholar: Rs 3,225
- Hosteller: Rs 5,025
For class 12-
- Day Scholar: Rs 3,290
- Hosteller: Rs 5,090 annually
This assistance is a great relief to families where the cost of education often becomes the biggest concern.
Complete process online, money directly into account
Yogi government has made the scholarship distribution process completely transparent. Students have to apply online on the scholarship management system website and the funds are sent directly to their bank accounts. Students who have secured 50 percent or more marks in higher education are eligible for the post-10th scholarship, while all backward class students from class 9 to 12 are given the benefit of the scheme.
“No eligible student should be deprived of education”
Backward Class Welfare Department Director (IAS) Umesh Pratap Singh said that the Purva Dasham and Post Dasham Scholarship Schemes are creating a strong foundation of education for the backward class students. He said that scholarships have been provided to more than 36 lakh students in the year 2025-26, which shows the commitment of the government. The government’s effort is to ensure that no eligible economically weaker student is deprived of education. He appealed to the students to apply online within the stipulated time and take maximum advantage of the scheme. This initiative in Uttar Pradesh is not just financial assistance but an attempt to give flight to millions of dreams.
