Talking about the look of women in Indian weddings, there has been a trend of mostly wearing heavy lehengas and handloom sarees like Banarasi or Kanjeevaram. Along with this, heavy and studded jewelery has been a status symbol as well as a part of the traditional look, but now girls are breaking this old fashion criteria and following the new trend. She wants a look which gives a desi vibe but also has a touch of modern style. Especially comfort is being consumed above all, even if it is a bridal look. There has been a lot of change in the design of outfits, color combinations and ways of wearing jewellery.
If we talk about wedding in India, even today we remember the clothes of bright colors like red, green, yellow, but now the way trends like theme wedding, personalized ceremony, destination wedding have come, in the same way there has been a lot of change in fashion and it also includes the inspiration of Bollywood style to a great extent. So let’s see about this.
pastel-soft tone color combination
In earlier times, in Indian weddings, women were seen in clothes of such colors which were bright and gave a vibrant look, but now pastel color combinations are seen in the looks from the bride’s dress to the wedding processions and gharatis. Now women choose soft toned outfits which do not irritate the eyes and give a flawless youthful look. Colors like blush pink, sage green, lilac, powder blue, butter yellow and lavender are being liked a lot in different wedding functions.

Trend of ready-to-wear sarees
Sarees have been the first choice of women and even girls like to wear saree on special occasions, but draping a saree not only seems like a task, but it also takes some time and a lot of care has to be taken in carrying it. Now that comfort is more important, today’s women want sarees that not only give them a traditional look but also look stylish and do not require frequent maintenance. For this reason, pre-draped or ready-to-wear sarees are quite in trend. Such sarees are very much liked for receptions, destination weddings and cocktail parties.
Indo-Western Desi Fusion Look
Now instead of keeping their look pure traditional, women create a desi fusion look and due to this, Indo-Western outfits have become quite popular. Like cape style blouse, co-ord set instead of suit, crop top and long skirt instead of lehenga, pleated cowl skirt and top instead of saree, heavy flared sharara with top and long jacket to saree gown… fusion outfits are now quite popular among the wedding guests.
Minimal-Statement Jewelry
In earlier times, heavy jewelery used to be the focus point, but now less is more is the trend. A look that is minimal and also attracts attention. For this reason, now if a big choker is carried then no earrings are carried and if earrings are carried then the neckpiece is either taken light weight or it is skipped. Heavy Kundan studs, pearl sets, floral jewelery are very much liked. Such jewelery is chosen in which the entire focus goes on one statement piece.
Changes in makeup trends
Along with outfits and jewellery, there have also been changes in makeup trends. Earlier, where bold looks were more preferred in weddings, now like the light color combination of the outfit, the make-up is also chosen to be of natural tone. From monochromatic to natural blush, light makeup is quite popular. Instead of heavy liner, girls have now started preferring to apply only mascara so that their look looks more flawless and youthful.
