POSH Act 2013 Awareness Campaign: Participation of all sections
Officers and employees of government and private institutions, members of women self-help groups, college students, lawyers, labor organizations and representatives of the local community are actively participating in this awareness campaign. This initiative is an important part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s women empowerment policy, in which emphasis is being laid on preventing sexual harassment at the workplace, ensuring safety and justice.
Sexual Harassment at Workplace Law: Key Provisions of POSH Act
During the campaign, the rules of ‘POSH’ Act, 2013 are being explained in detail. According to this law, any physical, verbal or non-verbal behavior at the workplace, which insults the dignity of a woman, is considered sexual harassment.
It is mandatory to form an Internal Complaints Committee in institutions with 10 or more employees, while at the district level the local committee hears the complaints. The time limit for filing a complaint is 3 months, which can be extended if necessary. It is necessary to complete the investigation and submit the report within 90 days. This law protects the privacy of women and empowers employers to take strict action if found guilty.

Mission Shakti Abhiyan aims to ensure safety, dignity and self-reliance of women and girls. Under this, not only legal information is being given, but emphasis is also being laid on making the workplace safe, increasing awareness and ensuring compliance with the rules.

Women’s financial and legal rights have also been prominently included in this campaign. In this, information is being given on maternity leave, equal pay for equal work, health and safety at workplace, special provisions under labor laws, financial literacy, banking and insurance schemes.
