Mumbai to see humid start to week, clouds and light showers likely over the weekend

New Delhi: Mumbai would see hot and humid weather at the start of this week. The temperatures are expected to remain around mid 30 degrees, but the moisture content in the air is likely to make the coming days uncomfortable for Mumbaikars. Mumbai will see typical pre-monsoon conditions, with weak sea breeze and overcast skies.

However as the week progresses, conditions are expected to shift and cloudy weather and light showers are predicted for the city.

Week would begin with intense humidity: Weather Department

According to the weather department, Mumbai would see a humid day on Monday, April 27. People are bound to feel sweaty and uncomfortable throughout the day, due to almost negligible sea breeze on the day. The temperatures in the city however are predicted to stay in the moderate range.

Tuesday weather would remain similar, with increasing moisture in the air leading to hot and humid conditions in the metropolitan area. According to scientists at the meteorological department, the weather is expected to change from Wednesday onwards, when clouds would start building up in the city. The day would still be warm, but a change is likely to begin during the day itself, with wind speed increasing, they added.

By April 30, a small dip in temperature is expected, which would bring some relief to the residents. By May 1, the city would see a swift breeze and cloudy weather, said the weather office. The skies would open up on May 2 and light showers are predicted for the city on the day. Temperatures would lower following the rains in the city on the day. By the end of the week, temperatures would reduce marginally and the humidity is also expected to reduce. This would mean pleasant weather in the city.

Weather in other parts of India

However, Mumbai alone is not the only city to be reeling under intense heat. If humid conditions are prevailing here, Delhi in the north is witnessing a hot and dry summer. Temperatures in the national capital have crossed the 40 degrees mark.

Similar hot weather is in fact prevailing in the entire northern and western parts of the country. Some cities in Uttar Pradesh, have witnessed 44 degrees Celsius temperature. Similar weather patterns have been reported from Jharkhand and West Bengal in the east. However good news awaits this region as well. Rains are likely in northern Indian states from April 28 onwards.
