CSK vs GT: Sanju Samson breaks Suresh Raina’s record to become fastest Indian to 5000 IPL runs

New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson became the fastest Indian batter to score 5000 runs in IPL history, breaking Suresh Raina’s record. Samson achieved the feat during CSK’s IPL 2026 clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, April 26.

Samson has been in brilliant form for CSK in the ongoing season and has smashed two hundreds. He reached the milestone with a boundary in the second over, bowled by Kagiso Rabada. He broke Raina’s record of scoring 5000 IPL runs in the fewest deliveries. The former CSK batter achieved the milestone in 3620 balls, while Samson completed 5000 IPL runs in 3555 deliveries.
