Ballia Petrol Pump Negligence Case: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Ballia district of UP. In which a 50-year-old patient died when the ambulance allegedly taking him to the hospital could not get fuel on the way. After running out of petrol, the ambulance stood at a petrol pump in Tengarhi village for about 15 minutes, but it was refused diesel/petrol from there. The family alleges that due to this delay the patient could not be taken to the hospital on time and he lost his life. The matter is of Ballia district of UP.

“No oil” or carelessness? Denied despite having stock

Investigation revealed that there was sufficient fuel available at the petrol pump. According to records, about 4,595 liters of motor spirit, 4,784 liters of high-speed diesel and 3,475 liters of premium petrol were available at the pump that day. Despite this, the pump manager refused to give fuel to the ambulance. During investigation, the manager admitted that on April 22 at around 9:20 pm, an ambulance had come to the petrol pump to collect oil and told that he had run out of petrol. However, officials said that the oil was not given to him on the pretext of non-availability of oil.

FIR registered, administration takes strict action – legal crackdown on manager

On the complaint of Ballia district Supply Inspector Indresh Kumar Tiwari, the police has registered a case under sections of ‘Essential Commodities Act’ against Ashok Kumar Bharti, manager of ‘M/s Bhushan Service Station’ located in Tengarhi village under Bairia tehsil. A team including Bairia’s SDM and District Supply Officer was involved in the investigation, which examined the CCTV footage and stock register. The FIR states that the ambulance allegedly remained standing at the pump for about 15 minutes. However, records showed that there was sufficient stock present at the petrol pump that day, which included 4,595 liters of motor spirit, 4,784 liters of high-speed diesel and 3,475 liters of premium petrol. This indicates that oil was available but was not supplied.

CCTV revealed the secret, confirmed the presence of ambulance

It was clearly seen in the CCTV footage that the ambulance had reached the petrol pump and a demand for fuel was made. But he was sent back without assistance. Considering this incident as serious negligence, the district administration has also included representatives of Indian Oil in the investigation.

Family’s pain: “If oil had been found, perhaps lives would have been saved.”

Earlier, District Supply Officer Devmani Mishra had said that Chatthu Sharma (50), a resident of Pandepur village in Bairia tehsil, had fallen seriously ill on the night of April 22. His family was taking him to the district hospital in a private ambulance when the ambulance ran out of fuel on the way. The family alleges that the negligence of the petrol pump took the patient’s life. Circle Officer (Baria) Mohammad Faheem Qureshi said that the police has started investigation and is searching for the accused manager.

Administration’s warning: Strict action will be taken

District Officer Mangala Prasad Singh said that CCTV footage has confirmed that the ambulance had reached the petrol pump and had asked for fuel, but was not given fuel. The pump operator had given the excuse of low stock, but investigation revealed that there was sufficient stock of petrol and diesel at the outlet. Strict action will be taken on the basis of investigation report. The investigation was conducted by a team under the supervision of the Additional District Magistrate. This team included the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bairia and the District Supply Officer. Based on the findings of the investigation, directions were issued to register a case. Officials said representatives of Indian Oil have also visited the spot, and based on the findings of the investigation, further action will be recommended against the petrol pump.
