Taal 2: Will Subhash Ghai Cast Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda In Film? Director Has THIS To Say

Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai’s Taal is one of the finest films made by Subhash Ghai. Two days ago, the filmmaker shared a still from his 1999 film, asking netizens if  can be made today. And now, the director has himself confirmed that the script of Taal’s sequel is almost complete. In an interview, Ghai shared that he’s been asked about Taal 2 for 15 years, and he believes this is the right time to make it. He also revealed that the energy of Taal is so strong that even Gen-Z feels that the sequel should be made. While discussing the second part, the director revealed whether he will cast Saiyaara stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Subhash Ghai said that the subject of Taal may seem easy, but it is difficult in reality. And in order to make it, the director believes ‘purity’ is important. Recalling the time first installment was made, the filmmaker mentioned that Akshaye and Aishwarya were new in the industry. That’s the reason he feels purity reflected on the big screen.

As for Anil Kapoor, Ghai said he was a star and was shown as one in the film too. The director noted that after writing a good script, the main responsibility is casting. He further mentioned that some of his films which didn’t work were because of wrong casting. The director continued to reflect on importance of casting and stated that it worked in favour of Mohit Suri for  . The romantic drama featured two debutants – Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.

For Ghai, the best thing about Saiyaara was its new faces and that’s why he believed in the star cast’s innocence and energy. Later, when the director was asked if he is open to casting Ahaan and Aneet in Taal 2, he said, “Ahaan Panday aur Aneet Padda ab star ban chuke hain. Par Taal 2 mein characters naye lagne chahiye. It is the need of the character.”

Co-written and directed by Ghai, Taal was a romantic musical drama, which hit the big screen on August 13 in 1999. Besides Anil, Akshaye and Aishwarya, the film’s star cast included Alok Nath and late Amrish Puri. Backed by Mukta Arts, the movie did commercially well.
