Adhik Maas will start from 17th May

Special importance of Adhik Maas has been mentioned in religious texts. More months come every third year. It is also called Purushottam Vas i.e. the month of Lord Vishnu. In the year 2026, the Adhik month of Jyeshtha will be from 17th May to 15th June. Many special fasts and festivals will be celebrated in this one month which come once in 3 years. The great coincidence of Shanishchari Amavasya will occur on Monday, June 15, in the Adhik month of Jyeshtha month itself. Such a rare coincidence occurs once in several decades.

Scientific significance of Adhik Maas

Adhik Maas has not only religious but also scientific importance. According to scientists, the Moon takes 355 days to revolve around the Earth 12 times, this is called a lunar year and the Earth takes 365 days to revolve around the Sun, this is called a solar year. In this way, every year there is a difference of 10 days between the lunar year and the solar year. To overcome this difference, arrangements for Adhik Maas have been made every third year. So that fasts and festivals come in a certain season.
