Hyderabad:Hyderabad CCS, along with Gandhinagar police, apprehended four persons including a minor for their involvement in a series of two-wheeler thefts across the city.
Ten stolen vehicles were recovered from their possession.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Riyaz, Syed Ahmed Ali, Mohammed Fardeen, all aged 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile, residents of MM Pahadi and nearby areas. Police said they targeted two-wheelers parked in different localities.
Based on credible information, the Special Crime Team tracked their movements, including activity on Instagram, and apprehended them at MM Pahadi in Attapur. During interrogation, they confessed to 10 thefts in Balanagar, Gandhi Nagar, Kollur, and Attapur police limits.
The recovered vehicles include eight scooters and two motorcycles. Police said the accused sold or used the vehicles for personal purposes. Further investigation is underway to identify additional offences.
Traffic police book 383 plate violations
Hyderabad:Cyberabad traffic police intensified checks against vehicles without number plates or with defective registration displays, booking 383 cases during a special drive across Traffic-II limits on Thursday. Fines totalling Rs 80,600 were collected.
The drive, ordered by senior officers, covered Patancheru bus stand, BHEL Road in RC Puram, Miyapur crossroads, JNTU Junction in KPHB, Kukatpally stretches including Khaithlapur Road and IDL Lake Road, as well as Balanagar Metro Rail station, Jeedimetla, Suraram and Medchal zones.
Police teams conducted rigorous checks to identify vehicles plying without plates or with irregular displays, violations considered serious under Motor Vehicle Rules due to their link to traffic offences and criminal anonymity. Officials said such violations hinder identification of vehicles involved in accidents or crimes, making enforcement crucial for public safety.
Gram sahayak dies of electric shock
Udupi:A 54-year-old gram sahayak died after suffering an electric shock while plucking mangoes near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Udupi on Friday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Sadananda, who was working at the DC office. The incident occurred around 9.15 am when he climbed a mango tree in the rear compound using an iron hook. The hook reportedly touched a high-tension power line above the tree, causing a severe shock. He fell onto the branches following the impact.
Sadananda was rushed to the Government Hospital at Ajjarkad but succumbed to his injuries at 10.53 am.
A case of unnatural death has been registered at Manipal police station.
Man held for burglary
Hyderabad:Miyapur police arrested a man for alleged burglary and recovered stolen property worth ₹3.5 lakh, including gold and silver ornaments and a motorcycle, on Friday. Police said the accused, Vallepu Venkatesh of Nellore district, had a history of 45 property-related offences across multiple police stations, including Madhapur, KPHB, Kukatpally and Balanagar.
Police said Vallepu Venkatesh of Nellore district was apprehended while moving suspiciously in Mayurinagar with intent to commit theft. He confessed to involvement in at least four recent burglary cases registered in Miyapur and Gachibowli police station limits.
He had previously been sent to judicial custody in several cases. Police said he targeted locked houses and watchman quarters, observing residents’ movements before striking when premises were unattended.
Based on his confession, police recovered four grams of gold ornaments, over 600 grams of silver articles and a two-wheeler. Further investigation is underway.
