US-China Scientists Mysterious Deaths: The suspicious deaths of 8 scientists associated with weapons and drone projects in China and 10 scientists associated with nuclear projects in America in 2 years have increased global concern. Is the world moving towards a new ‘Scientific Cold War’?
Scientific Cold War China US: The world’s two biggest powers, China and America, are in the news these days not only for trade, technology and military power, but also for the mysterious deaths of scientists. In the last few years, the death under suspicious circumstances of many scientists related to defence, drone, nuclear and hypersonic technology in both the countries has raised serious questions at the global level.
According to reports, between 2023 and 2025, 8 scientists related to weapons, drone and missile projects died in China, while in America too, suspicious deaths of 10 scientists related to nuclear projects have been reported in the last three years. These incidents have given rise to fears that a new ‘scientific cold war’ might have started between the two countries.

Suspicious death of 8 scientists in China in 2 years
According to international reports, the scientists who died in China were involved in the country’s sensitive defense and technological projects. These include areas like drone technology, hypersonic missiles, space monitoring and advanced chemistry. Some scientists died in road accidents, while others were attributed to sudden illness or unknown causes. However, in many cases the clear reason has not been revealed yet.
Death of which scientists increased the stir?
- Zhang Xiaoxin : Zhang, associated with the space monitoring program, died in a road accident in 2024. No clear official information has been revealed yet regarding his death.
- Fang Dining: Fang Deying, associated with the hypersonic project, died during a tour of Africa in 2024. He was also known for his very aggressive stance on the issue of Taiwan.
- Li Minyong: The sudden death of 49-year-old Lee Minyong in the year 2025 raised many questions. He was associated with the Biomedical Chemistry Project.
- Liu Donghao: Liu, who was involved in a drone technology project, died in an accident in 2024. He was 51 years old.
- Zhang Daibing: Zhang, associated with drone technology, died under suspicious circumstances in 2023.
- Yan Hong: Yan Hong, working on hypersonic missile development, died of an unknown illness in 2024.
- Zhou Guangyuan: Zhou, involved in the advanced chemical project, died in 2023 due to an unknown disease.
These continuous deaths have raised many questions about China’s defense scientific system.
Suspicious death of 10 scientists in America too
Some time ago, American media reports claimed that in the last three years, 10 American scientists have died under suspicious circumstances. All these scientists were said to be associated with nuclear projects. After the report came out, the White House took the matter seriously and said to start an investigation. However, till now no detailed official information related to this investigation has been made public.
Is this the new ‘scientific cold war’?
Experts believe that in today’s era, technological superiority has become the biggest basis of global power. Advancement in areas like hypersonic missiles, drones, nuclear capability and space technology determines the strategic strength of any country. In such a situation, the frequent mysterious deaths of scientists associated with these fields are not being considered as just normal incidents. Many analysts are linking this to a new type of cold war, where the battle is not being fought on the borders, but within laboratories and research centres.
The silence of both the countries increased the suspicion
The most interesting and worrying thing is that neither China has given any detailed statement openly on these deaths nor has America clearly confirmed any conspiracy. When such sensitive scientists die and concrete reasons are not revealed, suspicion naturally deepens. This is the reason why this entire incident is being discussed seriously at the international level.
At present, it is too early to say whether there is any international conspiracy behind these deaths or not, but it is certain that the frequent suspicious deaths of scientists in both the superpowers cannot be considered a normal phenomenon. Is this just a coincidence, or is the world moving towards a new invisible war – the answer to this question will be known only in the future.
