MI vs CSK yesterday match result: Mumbai Indians set several unwanted records after Wankhede mauling

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians hit a new low after suffering a mammoth 103-run loss to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium.

The much-anticipated battle between the two most successful IPL sides in history ended up a lopsided contest, as CSK dominated fellow five-time champions MI, triggering several unwanted records for the home side.

CSK not only dominated the match but also extended their supremacy in recent head-to-head encounters, with their fifth win in the last six encounters against MI since 2023.

Samson special floors MI

Asked to bat first. CSK rode on a magnificent unbeaten century by Sanju Samson to post a huge total of 207 for 6 in 20 overs. Samson remained unbeaten on 101 off 54 balls after completing his second century of the season and fifth overall. The former Rajasthan Royals batter also equalled Rohit Sharma in the list of most T20 centuries by an Indian with his eighth ton.

In reply, MI got off to the worst possible start, losing three wickets in the power play, and despite a 73-run stand between Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma for the fourth wicket, they were bowled out for 104 in 18.3 overs.

Akeal Hosein was the standout bowler for CSK with figures of 1 for 17 in 4 overs, which also included a maiden.
