Nitish Kumar’s stronghold: Harnaut’s importance and possible entry of Nishant
Harnaut seat in Nalanda district holds a special place in Bihar politics. This is not only the place of the beginning of the political journey of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but is also considered an impregnable fort of JDU. In the last eight assembly elections, Nitish Kumar or his party candidates have been invincible from here. Currently, Hari Narayan Singh of JDU has won from here three times in a row.
This time the biggest discussion on Harnaut seat is about the possible political entry of Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar. If Nishant is active in politics, JDU can consider his candidature with Harnaut. However, so far neither the party nor Nishant has received any formal indication.
Lalu family legacy: Raghopur and Danapur
Raghopur seat is a symbol of the political legacy of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu Prasad won from here in 1995 and has now become the traditional seat of his son Tejashwi Yadav. Danapur seat is also part of Lalu Prasad’s legacy. Currently, Ritlal Yadav of RJD is an MLA from here, who won the election despite being jailed in 2020. The BJP also has a strong base on this seat and the BJP had this seat before 2020.

Phulparas seat with the heritage of Jannayak Karpoori Thakur is currently the MLA and minister of JDU. His claim is considered strong, but the Congress also keeps an eye on this seat.

Digha seat is the developed form of former Chief Minister KB Sahai and Mahamaya Prasad Sinha’s old Patna West Assembly seat. In the 2020 election, BJP’s Sanjeev Chaurasia became an MLA from here and Shashi Yadav of CPI Male finished second.
