Fans were reminded of former Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, known for his excellent wicketkeeping instincts, seldom leading to any wrong DRS. During CSK’s clash against the SunRisers Hyderabad, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson urged skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to opt for a review for Abhishek Sharma.
While neither skipper or bowler, Jamie Overton looked convinced, Gaikwad still backed Samson and took a review. What followed after was enough to remind fans of Dhoni, affectionately called ‘Thala’.
During the last ball of the eighth over, Overton delivered a hard length, which was guided by Abhishek Sharma towards the third man. However, Sharma got an outside edge. Samson, who caught the ball behind, was sure of the wicket and celebrated it by gently throwing the ball up after catch. However, he immediately asked Gaikwad to review it, and the big screen showed a spike on UltraEdge. Sharma was forced to walk back at 59 off 22, which came in as a huge breakthrough for the Yellow Army.
CSK reduce SRH to 187 for 7 in 19 overs
SunRisers Hyderabad, who were aiming to take control of the game at home, got off to a favorable start as openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head went all guns blazing against the CSK bowlers. However, just when things seemingly got out of the five-time IPL winners, they made a comeback in the game and destroyed the SRH batting order. Head was first to depart at 23, followed by skipper Ishan Kishan’s golden duck. While Sharma and Heinrich Klassen came up with fifties, the rest of the players couldn’t contribute much.
Soon, the Orange Army was reduced to 187 for seven by the end of 19 overs. Jamie Overton picked three wickets for CSK, followed by Mukesh Choudhary and Anshul Kamboj’s two wickets each. Gurjapneet Singh picked one for the visitors.
