required materials

  • 1 cup stale rice
  • ½ cup semolina (rava)
  • ½ cup curd
  • ½ cup water (as required)
  • salt as per taste
  • ½ tsp baking soda or eno
  • A little oil (to grease the mold)

Method of preparation (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Prepare Rice Paste

First of all, put stale rice in the mixer and add some water and grind it well. Keep in mind that the paste should be smooth and grain-free, so that the texture of the idli becomes soft.

Step 2: Prepare the Batter

Now take out this paste in a bowl. Add semolina and curd to it and mix well. This mixture makes idli soft and light.

Step 3: Set the consistency

If the batter seems too thick then add water little by little to make medium consistency. The batter should neither be too thin nor too thick.
