Rahul Gandhi Controversial Speech Lok Sabha: In Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi cornered the government on the Women’s Reservation Bill and called it an election trick. There was an uproar in the House after the controversial statement and the Speaker removed some of his words from the proceedings. The debate on the issue has become more intense.
Amidst the ongoing discussion on bills related to women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha, the atmosphere suddenly heated up on Friday when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the government. His speech was not limited to just criticism, but many such statements were also made which drew strong opposition in the House. This debate is taking place at a time when the discussion on three amended bills related to delimitation of seats to implement women’s reservation is in its crucial phase and voting is also to be held on these.
‘This law will make women weak, not strong’
Rahul Gandhi clearly said in his speech that the current Women’s Reservation Bill will not empower women, but can make them weak. Describing it as a “shameful law”, he said that if the old law is brought back, his party will support it. He alleged that through this bill the government is diverting attention from the real issues and pushing a different political agenda.

Attack on PM without taking name, ruckus in the House
During his speech, Rahul Gandhi, without taking the name of the Prime Minister, used some such words, to which the ruling party MPs expressed strong opposition. Referring to terms like ‘Balakot’, ‘demonetisation’ and ‘sindoor magician’, he said, “The magician has been caught.” After this statement, NDA MPs alleged that this was an insult to the Prime Minister. Amidst the uproar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had to intervene and directed to remove some controversial words of Rahul Gandhi from the proceedings.
‘An attempt is being made to change the electoral map’
Rahul Gandhi’s biggest allegation was that in the name of women’s reservation, the government is trying to change the electoral map of the country. He said that the government is aware that this bill will not be implemented in its current form, hence it is being used as a political strategy. He also said that the opposition will not allow this attempt to succeed and will oppose it with full force.
Also raised the issue of rights of OBC and Dalits
In his speech, Rahul Gandhi also strongly raised the issue of social justice. He said that this bill can be harmful for OBC and Dalit classes. They alleged that the government wants to weaken the rights of these sections and in the name of women’s reservation, a structure is being prepared in which the participation of these communities may be reduced. Discussion on this issue is going on in the Lok Sabha and voting on these bills is also to be held on the same day. In such a situation, it will be important to see what answer the government gives on this and whether the opposition is able to present its objections effectively.
