West Bengal: Army jawan punches TMC worker in face, accuses him of disrupting BJP’s poll campaign

New Delhi: An Army jawan in West Bengal’s Sabang was seen punching a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker in the face. The jawan accused the man of trying to disrupt the BJP’s poll campaign in the state. The act was caught on camera and has led to severe backlash.

The video of the Armyman punching the TMC worker, after a minor exchange between them, has now gone viral. The incident happened in Chhin area of ​​Sarata area number 6 of Sabang assembly constituency. The incident happened a few days back.

There was a major dispute between workers of the BJP and TMC in this area, a few days back. The BJP had accused the Trinamool workers of beating up its workers and trying to disrupt the political campaign. Soon after the incident Central Army jawans accompanied by the police, went to the spot and tried to control the situation.

One of the Army jawans who had gone to the site of the incident was looking at a mobile phone clip and was trying to identify those involved in the riots and arson. A man, apparently a TMC worker standing besides the man, can be seen saying something to the Army personnel, when suddenly the Armyman punches him in the face.

The TMC worker who was hit by the Army personnel reportedly hails from the same village as TMC leader, Bijay Kumar Jana. Defending Jana, TMC’s Abu Kalam Baksh said that he did not have anything to do with stopping the BJP’s campaign and had gone there just to stop the riots.
