Hyderabad: Jagtial district of Telangana hit a record high of 44.4°C over the last 24 hours as heat wave persisted across the state. Adilabad, Komarambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad districts recorded 44.3°C followed by Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Siddipet districts. Medak, Siricilla, Peddapally, Mulugu and other districts also stayed well above 43°C.
In Hyderabad, RC Puram recorded the highest temperature at 42.3°C followed by Asifnagar, Himayatnagar, which recorded 42°C. Malakpet, Begumpet, Saroornagar, Chandrayangutta, Ghoshamahal and Miyapur also recorded 41.8°C, according to Telangana Development Planning Society data showed.
Thunderstorms, light rain unlikely to provide relief:
Thunderstorms and light to moderate rain with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph is likely after April 19 in several districts in the evening, India Meteorological Department said. However, daytime temperatures are likely to stay high and thunderstorms are unlikely to provide any relief. Instead, the heat induced storms will increase humidity, weather blogger T Balaji said.

According to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), maximum temperatures ranging from 43°C to 44.5°C are likely to be recorded in Parvathipuram Manyam, Palnadu, Prakasam, Markapuram, Nellore, and Rayalaseema districts on April 17.
Severe heatwave conditions are likely in 30 mandals across Manyam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Alluri, and Polavaram districts, while heatwave conditions are expected in another 55 mandals.
