Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra 2026: Offline registration begins today in Haridwar, traffic plan released

Haridwar: Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 have entered a new phase with the start of offline registration in Haridwar. On April 17, a temporary registration center was opened at Rishikul Grounds, where 20 counters have been set up to facilitate devotees.

District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and SSP Navneet Singh inspected the center late Thursday night to ensure all arrangements were complete. They checked seating, drinking water, fans, toilets, and electricity facilities, and instructed staff to guide pilgrims smoothly after registration.

Registration arrangements

DM Mayur Dixit assured that no devotee will face difficulty in registering. Along with the counters, staff have been deployed to assist pilgrims. Mobile registration facilities have also been arranged for large groups staying in hotels and dharamshalas. The DM appealed to devotees to register easily and without worry.

Security and traffic management

SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar stated that seven temporary checkpoints and ten tourist booths have been set up for the yatra. Water police, SDRF, and NDRF teams will be deployed at the ghats. A special traffic plan has also been implemented to manage the heavy flow of vehicles.

In case of congestion, diversion routes have been planned via Naglaimarti, Luksar, Ferupur, Jagjitpur, and Shani Chowk, with parking at Bairagi Camp. Vehicles from Saharanpur and Haryana will be diverted through Mandawar, Bhagwanpur, and Biharigarh to Dehradun and Rishikesh.

Restrictions during yatra season

To reduce congestion, Vikram autos and rickshaws from Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Raiwala will be allowed only up to Jairam turn. Movement of all vehicles, including taxis and autos, will be restricted from Laltara Bridge to Shivmurti during the yatra season.
